It’s Easy To Go After Those Who Already Sacrifice The Most

Al Franken is a trite comedian who ranks somewhere around Joe Piscapoe for SNL Alumni.  In his latest threat to Americans concerning the debt ceiling, he lists the military among those not receiving pay checks.

All I want to know is why the military is automatically considered the first on the chopping block every time Washington can’t get their sh!t in one sock?

Will all the hippies working for the EPA get paid on time?  Most likely.

What about the knuckleheads at the Department of Education?  Of course.

What about money given to the University of Wyoming to specifically study the Wyoming Toad?  Probably.

But men and women who have signed a form, taken an oath, sacrificed many rights laid out in the Bill of Rights, and then agree to give up their life for their country are the first to have one more thing pulled away from them.  Do servicemen and women appear as an easy target to our politicians?  I’d hate to think so.  Because here’s the straight poop: hardly any of the jack wagons called senator, congressman, secretary, or president could keep up with those wearing 60 pound ruck sacks on top of 30 pound body armour.  A politician’s personal wealth may increase 4 fold just by being elected, but I submit their character and integrity becomes so bereft it is immeasurable.

By threatening to take the paycheck (a well-earned one I might add) takes more than just money away from those in uniform.  It’s a message from Washington saying, “You are worthless.”

And from some one who does more before 9:00 am than they do all day, well, it’s some what disgusting.

The Silence is Deafening

The last time government officials broke “international law”, the Secretary of that department was asked repeatedly to resign.  I don’t believe much thought was given to whether or not he was aware of the infraction.

Can anyone compare Abu Ghraib to Operation Fast and Furious/Gun Runner?  Despite what happened in Iraq, the prisoners weren’t killed.  At least one federal agent has died in the line of duty because of this debacle.

Eric Holder is saying he had no knowledge of this operation.  But in 2009 he said he did.  Was he lying then or is he lying now?

Either way, no one from the Economist, Rolling Stone, or other hippie rags are calling for his resignation.

Inexcusable. UPDATE.

This is another cattle call for all the hippies out there.  Please defend your majestic president after he pulled this stunt.  From ABC news:

“First time I saw the 10th Mountain Division, you guys were in southern Iraq.  When I went back to visit Afghanistan, you guys were the first ones there.  I had the great honor of seeing some of you because a comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honor to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously,” the president said.

Jared Monti was actually killed in Afghanistan on June 21, 2006.  True, Obama did award him the Medal of Honor – the highest military decoration awarded by the United States – but he did so posthumously in September 2009.

Mistakes are made by fallible human beings, but as commander in chief, YOU DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE.  To do so, it means you completely forgot the look on a family member’s face as they received the Medal of Honor in lieu of their loved one.  It means you didn’t understand the gravity of that sacrifice or any sacrifice.  It means YOU DON”T GIVE A SHIT about those who you send to fight and die.  To command, you must be as strong, if not stronger, than those you lead.

There is only one appropriate response to this action by a weak minded, shell of a man…but I won’t print it here.  After all, my parents and pastor read this (maybe).

But hey, this is Barack Obama, so I’ll help out with his pre-packaged excuses: he’s too busy with the economy, this was a bi-partisan mistake, the Tea Party is racist, Guantanamo is still open, this particular mistake was Bush’s fault…

Seriously, GTFO.

At this point I’m just waiting for video footage of the president pissing on the flag.

UPDATE:  The president called SFC Monti’s father and personally apologized.  I may not like the president, but this gesture was first class.  If the guy’s father can forgive, I should too.
