It Has to Start Somewhere…

Why is it when any conservative minded person calls for lower taxes the first hippie in earshot replies with cries of, “Anarchy! Anarchy! Don’t you want infrastructure? Roads? Clean Water?”  Aside from the fact that the federal government does not make tangible provisions for any of those things (with exception to the interstate system), it’s clear most leftists are using the same Alinsky ploy of demonizing any dissenting thought.

Now, the governor of North Carolina (a democrat) makes a very undeniable statement for “suspending elections” for the sake of the economy as reported by

You have to have more ability from Congress, I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things. I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that.

-Gov. Bev Perdue

WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT?!?  No, no, seriously…WTF?

How can anyone in their right mind ignore that this publicly elected official is seriously calling for the dissolution of the Constitution?  Well maybe her official BS shoveler can:

Gov. Perdue was obviously using hyperbole to highlight what we can all agree is a serious problem: Washington politicians who focus on their own election instead of what’s best for the people they serve.

This is the double standard in today’s politics that drives me nuts.  In the above statements a person of real political power is seriously suggesting we abandon freedom for economic safety.  No, but hey, whenever someone calls the governor out, those statements were merely hyperbole

Ah, so I’m guessing the good governor from North Carolina writes satire in her spare time?  Yeah, she’s a literary figure right up there with Mark Twain.

Nice try.

In case those idiots fell asleep in Political Science 101, worrying about elections is what keeps politicians true to their constituancy.  That about sums up the reasons to set up a democracy.

I’m not from North Carolina, I haven’t even had the privilege of living there during my military career.  But I am calling for her resignation.  The executive power from North Carolina cannot call for the dissolution of the US Constitution and just get a “pass.”  Sorry, that’s not how accountability works and if she has one iota of integrity she will resign.

If she doesn’t, then this will become a disastrous mudslide that leads to the death of outright freedom in this country.  I am not speaking of tyranny via bureaucracy, but a no-kidding despotism…and I already have a bad feeling about who would want to be our first dictator.

If this scares you, then call up the good governor and ask her to resign.

My FEMA Plan

Ready for this one?  It’s a real brain buster, trust me.  If anyone saw the footage of FEMA response to Katrina or even this year’s disaster relief efforts for various floods and storms, you can see it’s little more than non-existent.  So why have them to begin with?  Also, if you’re a Texan, you know how infuriating it can be to watch the president dangle disaster relief as a political tool when half your state is on fire.

The federal government should disband FEMA.  Each job detailed to staff for the Director on up should be wiped out.  Their budget this year was around $6.5 million (12% of the budget for Department of Homeland Security).  As a federal employee myself, I can tell you from experience that $6.5 million doesn’t stretch too far.  Especially after you consider payrolls and I’m guessing the Director is making somewhere in the six figure range.  So let’s be conservative and say we’ll save around $500K if we eliminated the director’s job along with his staff (I’ll leave out the associated costs of their healthcare).  And we arrive at a comfy $7 million all around.

Now let’s take this $7 million and roll that back to the coffers (a drop in the bucket really) for nationally proclaimed disaster relief paid to the states.  The next part will take some trickery on part of the congress, but they should also be granted the power via a constitutional amendment, to declare a natural disaster.  The states should then provide their own version of FEMA (many already do), but now don’t have to await the *ahem* objectivity of the President to declare disaster relief.

What are your thoughts?

Someone Welcome the LA Times to the Party

I’m not certain if I’ve read any of Andrew Malcolm’s stuff before (I don’t care enough at this point to do the research), but he got this one right.

True, it is a blog.  But the fact he is writing it for a publication which is typical of the Mainstream Media is groundbreaking.  Would anyone in 2008 from the MSM have dared to put in to circulation any gaffes or fumbles by BHO?  What about from a newspaper entrenched in Hollywood’s leftist stronghold?

I’m guessing the president’s new car smell finally worn off and the world can view him objectively.

Still though, the LA Times is only a few years late on doing their job.  Better late than never I guess.

Rick Perry Should Not Be President

I know some of my fellow Aggies out there will not appreciate this, but I’ve held my breath way too long.  Disclaimer: I’ve yet to watch the full length of last night’s debate because I always wait for the YouTube version.  But when I saw the story on the Weekly Standard this morning I was in disbelief.  In it, they provide excerpts from Governor Perry’s response to a question dealing with granting in-state tuition to illegal immigrants.  Perry’s justification was,

If you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they’ve been brought their through no fault of their own, I don’t think you have a heart.

I’m sorry Mr. Governor, when did government become a charity?  Because here is the reality, by endorsing and enforcing this program, Governor Perry is choosing illegal immigrants over that of fellow countrymen.  You can call that jingoistic, xenophobic, or whatever.  But when you, as an elected leader in government make the conscious decision to provide for citizens of another country over that of your fellow countrymen then, in my eyes, you forfeit all rights and responsibilities to be a leader.  Folks in Ojinaga and Juarez do not pay state taxes, nor did they vote for Governor Perry.  However, the governor from the great State of Texas believes individuals illegally living in his own state deserve a leg up over those from Columbus, GA and Tulsa, OK.

Now this statute he holds so dear was not entirely unknown to me.  Even though I’m station outside my home of record I do keep up with Texas politics from time to time.  And I wont lie, my Aggie heart-strings were (and still are) tugged at knowing we share the same Alma Mater.  Maybe I was hoping he would recant in the same manner about the HPV vaccines, but he didn’t.  And the Texas A&M connection is not enough to disavow my convictions on what I believe is right.

Christianity in the Crosshairs

Something like this is a stretch…even for California.  But charging a fee for a “church” seems to violate the very core this country was founded.

But lets put that aside for now.  I have to believe it is very hard to the county to just stumble upon this gathering of Christians.  More over, how was this Bible study found to be a Bible study and not just one of a million BBQ’s that Americans have on daily basis.

Everyone’s thinking it, but I’ll ask it: if these people were muslim, would Orange County still have made them pay a fine?

The Second Amendment is Crystal Clear

Amendment II of the Constitution says thus:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Please take not of the phrase, “shall not be infringed,” (emphasis added).  What is the definition of infringed? says,

1. to commit a breach or infraction of; violate or transgress: to infringe a copyright; to infringe a rule.
2. to encroach or trespass (usually followed by on  or upon ): Don’t infringe on his privacy.

Is the use of Class III licenses an infringement?  You are subject to an ATF (a bureau not specified in the Constitution) inspection at almost any time.  What about state issued conceal/carry licenses?  I know for a fact it is easier to acquire a concealed handgun license in Florida than it is in Texas… weird, right?

What about states who don’t recognize a conceal/carry license from another state?  Can New York legally infringe on my right to carry a concealed weapon that I legally acquired in Florida?

What about California?  Check this out.  As tough as it is to get a concealed handgun license in California, now they don’t want your piece in public either.  My friends, this is how modern-day communism works.  There will not be an out right law to disarm the public.  Over the course of many years bureaucrats and hippies will shout for a gradual increase to gun restrictions.  This will happen until the paperwork for buying a gun will equal that to a home loan.  Thomas Jefferson said it best, “The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until it’s being taken away.”

It should be noted that the militia, while necessary to prevent despotism at home is also a major factor to consider against foreign aggressors.  I submit to you, dear reader, no foreign army wins a land war on US soil because of the already well armed public.  Should North Korea attack us, God forbid, they wont make very good progress.  While the hippies in LA and New York City are busy sun burning their arm pits in surrender, hunters and good ol’ boys from Alabama to Montana will be polishing their favorite dear rifle with a smile on their faces.

The President’s Next Push for Re-election: Communism!

Sorry for the late post.  I’m currently house hunting and haven’t had the time necessary to devote to this site.  After reading some more disturbing news about the president’s jobs bill I had to shoot my mouth off at his horrible plan.  Enjoy.

So the idiot in chief who acted like a child begging for a lollypop during his address to congress has finally laid out some framework for his soon to be forgotten jobs bill.  Please note, dear reader, that the president has yet to release the actual bill.  The soul-less Jay Carney is only offering tidbits of information so far, no doubt in hopes that Americans will, by and large, be as stupid as we were when the Obama-care bill was passed.

The Wall Street Journal has quoted White House knuckle heads as saying the president’s latest failure will now raise taxes for incomes of over $200K.  Does anyone remember Obama’s answer to Rick Warren’s question of what he considers rich?  Reminder.

The writing is on the wall.  This president wants a proletariat and an oligarchy.  He will continue to chip away at the middle class until the majority of Americans are “begging” for the government to help.

John Q. Adams said it best,”Government can’t grant freedom, it can only take it away.”
